New lifesaving transport is about to hit the road and make a difference!

A new lifesaving transport is about to hit the road and make a difference!

We have awarded a $50,000 Buddy's Grant to Staffy and Bully Breed Rescue (SABBR) to help them purchase a new transport van to help save more lives from pounds and increase their operational capabilities.

Staffy and Bully Breed Rescue is a foster-based rescue group in Perth, Western Australia run entirely by volunteers. They are committed to the rescue, rehabilitation, rehoming and responsible ownership of Staffordshire Bull Terriers and Bully Breed dogs, including cross breeds.

SABBR primarily work with local pounds all across greater Perth and can receive requests from any pound within Western Australia as far south as Narrogin to assist with rehoming dogs in their pound.

On average SABBR can take in around 220 dogs and puppies per year from these pounds and currently rely on volunteers use their personal vehicles for transportation. This not only adds wear and tear to their personal vehicles and puts financial pressure on them, but also creates potential safety and sanitation issues. For example, volunteers using personal vehicles to transport dogs with parvo can expose their own dogs to the disease if not properly sanitised.

Having a dedicated van fitted out with custom travel cages will significantly enhance their capacity to save more dogs, ensuring they are transported in a controlled, safe, and hygienic environment for dedicated volunteers.

Not only will this new transport be used for life saving rescue missions across greater Perth it will be used for:

Veterinary Visits: Ensuring that rescued dogs receive timely medical care.

Adoption Events: Safely transporting dogs to adoption events, where they can meet potential new families.

Foster Care Transfers: Moving dogs between foster homes and sometimes into emergency kennel accommodation, ensuring they are placed in a safe environment while waiting for their forever homes.

Training sessions: Transporting dogs in care to extra training support sessions, temperament testing, socialisation and supporting other local Perth rescue organisations.

With so many dogs in need already in pounds we can't wait to SABBR's new life saving wheels hit the road and make a difference!
