Hayley's close call - CK Rescue
This sweet little girl not only found herself in the pound but wrapped up in an accident where she needed help fast!
CK Rescue had saved 5 puppies from a local pound and before they could get there to pick up the puppies, overnight they destroyed a hessian bed unravelling the whole thing which made a mess of rope in their pen.
Sadly one of the ropes wrapped around the leg of one of the puppies extremely tight cutting off all circulation. The pound isn't staffed overnight so it wasn't found until morning.
Once they were alerted to the situation they did everything they could and rushed her to the vet, getting her pain medication and taking great care of her. This was a freak accident and a very sad one but the pound did do everything in their power to keep her comfortable until she could get to rescue.
Sadly she had lost blood supply for a significant amount of time and when she was found her limb was completely cold.
Thanks to CK Rescue Hayley was able to get the help and surgery she needed, while she may have lost her back leg she hasn't lost her love of life and is a tough little fighter!
We were able to donate $2000 toward Hayley's vet bill and help support CK Rescue. She has recovered well in a loving foster home and is now living her best life in her forever home.
The Anzac 7 - New Beginnings Animal Rescue
Our rescue partners move fast with special cases like the ANZAC 7 that were found in a hoarding case after their owner had unfortunately passed away. New Beginnings Animal Rescue took on all 7 little dogs without knowing what expenses they were looking at just to make sure they were safe and sound.
After the first day spent grooming and bathing them along with a trip to the vet they were looking at desexing, dental, nail clips, ear cleans, vaccinations, microchips and flea and worm treatments.
While all this vet work would help the dogs feel better it can add up quickly! We were able to donate $2000 to the ANZAC 7 and help take the pressure off New Beginnings Rescue.
Pluto's Paw - Dog Rescue Newcastle
This little guy is Pluto a 10-week-old Mixed breed who found himself in care with Dog Rescue Newcastle after being attacked by a resident dog. Pluto suffered a broken tibia and some other wounds and had to go straight into surgery which is a big ordeal for such a young guy.
We are happy to report that Pluto is recovering well in his new foster home and doing well thanks to Dog Rescue Newcastle's amazing partner Mayfield Veterinary Hospital for quick action and care.
His total bill was just under $3,000 and we were able to completely cover his bills so Dog Rescue Newcastle didn't have to worry about finding the money.
Daddy's Freak Injury - Sydney Animal Second Chance
Daddy Cool is hands-down one of the sweetest boys we've ever seen. He is only a small dog but from what the team at Sydney Animal Second Chance say he has the biggest heart only beaten by the most gorgeous set of ears.
Daddy was playing with his brother Teddy in foster care as they did most days. Unfortunately in this play session, Teddy started doing zoomies and accidentally rammed into Daddy Cool's neck. As a result of this trauma, Daddy Cool sustained a dislocation of the first and second vertebrae and associated compression of the spinal cord.
He was unable to stand as a result of the neurological effects of the dislocation and compression of his spinal cord and there was a very high risk of further damage to his spinal cord due to the instability of this area which could have led to Daddy Cool's death so a decision had to be made urgently.
We were able to donate $3,000 towards his surgery to be able to give him the chance he needed to live a full life.
Daddy Cool is making a remarkable recovery and regaining strength, and the fact that he's started standing on his own is a testament to the progress he has made.
