With so many unwanted litters coming into care Cairns Animal Rescue knew they had to do something different.
They recently reached out to us about teaming up to run a desexing program in the Laura and Coen communities in far North Queensland where there was a dire need in the community.
Nikki and the team had a plan, a facility, and the vets from Central Veterinary Surgery ready to go and all they needed was funding to pull it off. We were able to donate $15,000 to the program and the team hit the road.
Over 20 dogs were desexed, and many others received essential treatments for worms, fleas, and ticks.
The dedicated team met their desexing target, shared valuable knowledge, and received heartfelt thanks not only from dog owners but also from the entire community. The community has expressed a strong desire for them to return, and they are eager to plan another visit as soon as possible.
