We have awarded a $8,000 Buddy's Grant to Little Legs Dog & Cat Rescue to support their Retiree Program helping their most vulnerable animals who, due to severe health issues, advanced age, or challenging behaviours, are deemed unsuitable for rehoming.
Little Legs Dog & Cat Rescue Qld Inc is a small rescue; dedicated to rescuing and rehoming at risk small dogs from pounds or in need of private surrender. The animals they focus on are facing chronic medical conditions, terminal illnesses, or other obstacles, might otherwise be left without the love and care they deserve in their final years.
Through this program, dogs who cannot be adopted are placed in loving, permanent foster homes where they receive the highest level of care for the rest of their lives. Little Legs covers all expenses for these animals, ensuring they have access to:
• Comprehensive veterinary care, including necessary surgeries
• Medications to manage ongoing health conditions
• Flea, worming and annual vaccination treatments
• Specialised prescription diets tailored to their unique needs
Providing this care is a significant financial undertaking, but it is crucial to ensuring these animals live out their lives with dignity and comfort. To date, thirty-five animals have been supported through their Retiree Program, excluding the thirteen retirees currently in their care.
Without this program dogs like Max and Ruby (pictured below), would face unnecessary suffering or even euthanasia. This grant enables Little Legs to continue its commitment to humane treatment, ensuring that every animal in the program lives with dignity, free from pain and fear, for the remainder of their lives.
