SavourLife Partners with Animal Welfare League Queensland Community Vet Clinics to Provide Targeted Support for Vulnerable Pet Owners

We're committed to helping dogs stay with families who love them

SavourLife is Partnering with AWLQ Community Vet Clinics to Provide Targeted Support for Vulnerable Pet Owners

If a dog doesn’t have to become a rescue dog, that’s always the best outcome. Our most recent grant award is focused on keeping beloved pets with their families who desperately want to avoid surrendering them. Less dogs being surrendered means less pressure on already stretched rescue groups, allowing them to use the limited resources that they have more effectively.

SavourLife have committed $200,000 over the next 12 months to a targeted support fund for essential veterinary care which will help individuals and families keep their pets healthy and by their side — especially during times of hardship.

This collaboration aims to help keep families and their dogs together by alleviating the financial burden of veterinary care for those facing significant hardship, such as homelessness, unemployment, or domestic violence. The support fund is specifically designed to assist individuals who meet certain criteria and are at risk of having to surrender their dog due to financial constraints.

AWLQ’s Community Vet Clinics have been providing affordable veterinary services for over 20 years, helping nearly 50,000 animals annually across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Ipswich. However, for many in the community, the high cost of veterinary treatments remains a significant barrier to accessing care. This partnership is focused on addressing the urgent needs of individuals who are experiencing short-term financial challenges and may require emergency or one-off treatments.

"At SavourLife, we are committed to improving the lives of animals, and our partnership with AWLQ is a direct way to support those in need,” said Michael Mcteigue, Founder at SavourLife. “Through this initiative, we aim to ensure that vulnerable dog owners who are facing genuine financial hardship can access the medical care their dogs require, without the risk of feeling like they have no options available to them."

AWLQ's Community Vet Clinics already offer flexible payment options, including Vet Pay, for individuals who struggle to afford veterinary services. However, our support fund will provide additional assistance for those who need immediate, short-term help with veterinary costs that payment plans alone cannot cover.

“Through this partnership with SavourLife, we will be able to offer additional support to dog parents who are experiencing financial hardship,” said Katie Garrett, CEO at AWLQ. “This collaboration with SavourLife ensures that we can continue providing affordable care to those who truly need it and reinforces our charter of keeping people and their dogs together.”

This partnership underscores the shared commitment of SavourLife and AWLQ to improve the lives of animals and their owners. Together, SavourLife and AWLQ are working to create a stronger, more compassionate community by ensuring that vulnerable dog parents can keep their beloved dogs healthy and with them for years to come.
