Safe Haven Animal Rescue had to think outside the box when confronted with an extreme animal hording situation which included a number of very young pups and had to find a solution quickly!
In late June the rescue took in 29 dogs and newborn pups with mums who needed specialist care as nearly all of them were positive for giardia, cocci, hookworm and tapeworm.
One special mum was Rylee, who had just given birth to eight healthy babies and was exhausted, malnourished and terrified.
The Safe Haven team were expecting multiple litters from the dogs coming in from this location and were looking for the best solution to care for them effectively.
They reached out to us for support with their idea on how to tackle the situation head on with a portable cabin specially designed for whelping and neonatal facilities.
We were able to donate $22,000 to bring their idea to life and support the number of mums and pups in need.
Since the day it landed the cabin has been in use with over 30 pups already through the doors including seven cleft pallet puppies and a puppy with a broken elbow.
