Are you ready to be a dog owner?

If you are you can help a dog in need find a forever home with you!

To find a companion you can search through the hundreds of dogs on our Adoptadog website, visit rescue centres all over Australia, visit rescues’ websites or even give them a call to speak with them about the breeds and types they have ready to adopt.

If you can’t adopt then FOSTER

FOSTER

You can do this by taking home a dog from a local shelter or rescue group and nurturing the dog, until they find a permanent home, with a family forever. It’s a great way to support the rescue group so they can keep taking on new dogs and make sure as many as possible are safe.

Fostering generally lasts from a couple of weeks to a few months. A committed foster carer will keep an animal until it finds its forever home. Most rescue groups will have a “foster” section on their website for you to apply or find out more information.

If you can’t foster then VOLUNTEER

VOLUNTEER

Another great way to help our loving pooches and the community is by volunteering your time for free at the shelters and rescue groups.  This might include assisting with walking the dogs, feeding, bathing and most importantly giving them lots of love and attention.  You can do this by calling your local rescues groups or popping in to have a chat with them face-to-face to discuss how you can help.

If you can’t volunteer then FUNDRAISE

FUNDRAISE

There are lots of different ways you can fundraise for your local rescue group. All you need is some passion to raise as much money as you can, remembering any little bit helps!

Some ideas could be; planning a pet photo shoot day, an event at your workplace, a birthday party for your dog or perhaps a gold coin donation raffle.  Think of ways to incorporate fundraising into the event.  Then just donate any proceeds from the day to your local dog rescue

We look forward to seeing your creative ideas of ways to raise money for our companions, no matter how big or small – rescues always appreciate your support!

If you can’t fundraise then DONATE

DONATE

You can always help by donating to a rescue organisation of your choice, any donation is appreciated! You can do this by reading a bit about the organisations on this website and clicking the donate button on the screen.  These donations will ensure we can keep the shelters running to support our furry friends.  Check to see if your work has a giving program that might match your donation! Many of the rescue groups have tax deductible status too.

If you can’t donate then ADVOCATE

ADVOCATE

Become an advocate for rescue programmes by educating yourself and making others around you aware. If someone is talking about getting a dog, suggest they adopt!  Advocating can be done by sharing social media posts, discussing it with friends and family and speaking with the colleagues.  While more people are aware of rescue dogs, we still have so many more to educate!
