NRAS is a self-funded, not-for-profit, charity that operates a rescue shelter for companion animals (dogs and cats) in the Northern Rivers, located in Ballina on the Far North Coast of NSW.
Whilst the organisation prefers its animals to be in foster care, the NRAS Rescue Shelter has a three-room cat cottage with a capacity for up to 18 cats and seven operational dog kennels to house canine and feline residents in emergency care.
In addition to generous community donations, NRAS' primary source of income is its Op Shop, also located in Ballina, which allows the organisation to fund a subsidised desexing program with its Vet Partners in the region.
Adoption Policy: Strict
NRAS offers a two-week trial period for all adoptions and therefore prefers to limit adoptions to 100km radius from its Shelter. All companion animals adopted through NRAS are flea & worm treated; vet checked; vaccinated; microchipped and desexed prior to adoption.
