Forever Friends Animal Rescue

Founded in 2011, Forever Friends Animal Rescue is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers that rescues and rehabilitates the most vulnerable animals in our community – the abandoned, abused, elderly and sick. From dogs and cats to rabbits, former racehorses and farmed animals, our 700+-strong volunteer team works tirelessly, seven days a week, to save lives. Based in Victoria, we are now one of the largest animal welfare organisations in the state. We differ from shelters in that all of our rescued domestic animals are taken in by our dedicated volunteer foster carers to be rehabilitated in their own homes, under the guidance of our expert team. We are entirely staffed by volunteers, receive no government funding, and rely on the community for donations and support in saving lives. All our rescue pets are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and flea and worm-treated. If you adopt a FFAR pet, you have the benefit of a four-week trial to ensure that your new family member fits in well. Also, our professional behaviourists assist with any settling-in issues you may have. FFAR guarantees we will always take back a rehomed pet if you become unable to care for them. We are committed to each rescue pet for the remainder of its life. We are always looking for both short- and long-term foster carers to help us save lives, and volunteers to help us fill all the essential roles - from transporting animals to administration.

Adoption Policy: Moderate

Almost all our rescue animals are housed with loving foster carers across Victoria. By placing our animals in foster homes, we get to know our animals very thoroughly: we learn what they are like with other creatures, with children, the elderly, the training they may need and the sort of home they are best suited to. Our rescue animals are all temperament-tested, desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated. If you want to proceed with an adoption, we then conduct an in-person or online property check to ensure the safety of your new family member. We offer a 4-week trial and the services of our behaviourists during that time, free of charge, should you have any settling-in issues. If the adoption doesn’t work out, we will take our rescue animals back for a full refund within those 4 weeks. We will also take back our rescue animals at any point during their life.
